The Orion Nebula (M42) - 01/25/2026

My First Attempt at Orion
The Orion Nebula is a fairly iconic deep sky object, so its kind of surprising that this is my first time imaging it.
Our last home had very difficult skies to work with, combined with my limited time. I recall one winter in the past few years where we went the entire winter without having a clear night with unblocked line of sight to Orion. If you’re unfamiliar with this stuff, you’d be surprised how fast these objects migrate across the sky through the season.
Like my last image of Andromeda, I’m both very happy with how this turned out while also very aware of some shortcomings and improvements I can make. I certainly didn’t take my time with this one, and my stars are pretty bloated (even before editing).
Maybe I’ll take a stab at re-editing this one soon. But for now, very pleased.
